Troubleshooting Intermittent Internet Connectivity Issues
When dealing with intermittent internet connectivity issues, please follow the following steps to identify and resolve the issue:
- Send a refresh signal (hit) to the modem and router: This can be completed by logging into your customer portal and selecting internet troubleshooting, or by calling NextGen Communications and then selecting internet followed by connectivity issues in the IVR.
- Restart Your Modem and Router: Simply unplug your modem and router (or internet gateway if you have a combo device), wait a couple of minutes, and then plug them back in.
- Check Your Wires and Cables: Loose or damaged cables can cause a wide range of internet issues. Make sure all connections are secure and replace any faulty cables.
- Optimize Router Placement: If you’re using Wi-Fi, the placement of your router matters. Sometimes moving it just a few feet or adjusting the antenna angle can significantly improve your signal strength.
- Test a Different Website or device: If only one website or device is acting up, your connection might be fine.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, a new modem / router will be needed. These may be purchased by customers or rented for a monthly fee from NextGen Communications.
